A wonderful and blessed day is my hope for you as we share this Sunday Morning together in worship and praise to the only One worthy of praise. I am so glad you are here – so many places you could be, but you chose to be here!
Last Wednesday in our Bible Study I was reading from II Chronicles 34:15. Suddenly I was arrested by a phrase spoken by the priest named Hilkiah. He said “I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord.” I may have read it several times, but this time it hammered my heart as never before. The priest “found the book of the law in the house of the Lord”. An amazing statement in the context of it!
Notice the book of the law was not found in the rubbish heap where it had been totally discarded. It was not found in some hidden hole in the throne room of the King. It was not found in the prayer room of some priest. The amazing fact is that the Word of God was lost in the Temple of God! What a horrible, terrible, tragic truth, that history has repeated itself in our times! The Word of God has been lost in His House because we substitute our own man conceived rules and regulations and preaching for the Law of God and indeed the “Book” is lost in God’s House again!
When I reflected on that, I turned to Luke 2:41-46 and I was again struck by a hard fact. When Joseph and Mary had taken the now twelve year old Jesus to Jerusalem for the Passover feast, they became separated from their son and were a day’s journey out before they discovered they had lost Jesus. When they returned in a desperate haste to search for Him, they found Him in the Temple!
It is amazing that the Word of God and the Son of God were both “lost” in God’s House. The truth is that sad history is repeating itself in the churches of America today! Please help and pray that CSBC never loses the Word of God or the Son of God!
